WELCOME to POETRY

Hello and welcome to my poetry blog - finally getting it up and running - I am an award-winning artist and poet with over 150 poems published, mainly in short form (haiku, haiga, haibun, tanka) and some free verse. These can be found in publications such as Drifting Sands, the Herons Nest, the Aurora Review, Eucalypt, Contemporary Haibun, Cloudspeak, Ripples, Modern English Tanka, LYNX, Modern Haiku, Kokako (NZ), Moonset, Simply Haiku amongst others.

although i am in the midst of updating all published works you can see my full artist bio here, as it currently stands - this is being updated regularly as i work through the paper trail.  There is also a label for 'published' which will bring up all the published works.

I have been writing poetry for many many years, starting as a creative pursuit (along with collage) while i worked fulltime in my day job.  I began with haiku - a difficult form for such a short poem and later, having got a handle on the form i went to tanka that brought in a little more poetic devices and haiga which afforded me a chance to use photography and drawing.  Haibun is a more recent form i find myself with and love very much - its a mix of prose and haiku; writing clearly and consicely sprinkled with haiku. My haibun style brings in a little poetic device here and there rather than reading like a newspaper article.

I find myself editing my poems over years and also enjoy experimental work (both in my art and poetry). This includes found poetry, redacted poetry, poetry as list, seriality and imagism as i continue to explore what else can be done.

I hope you enjoy what you read and I appreciate it if you let me know you are here and what you think.
